As we near the end of 2020, we want to remind all Employers of their responsibility to make sure that all Employees are provided with sexual harassment training by January 1, 2021 in compliance with California Government Code §12950.1.
Just as a recap, Employers with 5 or more employees are required to provide sexual harassment training to each Employee by the Employee’s sixth month of employment, and then every 2 years thereafter. This means that you are required to provide non-supervisory employees with one hour of sexual harassment training and any supervisory/managerial positions with two hours of training.
Although January 1, 2021 is quickly approaching don’t fret — the California Fair Employment and Housing (“DEFH”) has posted an online tool for Employers that provides free online sexual harassment training for all Employees (yes, including manager/supervisor training!) in six different languages in order to ensure that you are in compliance with training requirements by year’s end.
