Proof of Vaccination in San Francisco Required!

Since we wrote recently about San Francisco employers complying with the new vaccination mandates for patrons 12 years or older, questions have arisen as to what proof of vaccination is required in San Francisco.   First, the current vaccination requirement to enter San Francisco businesses applies to 2 main categories of indoor businesses where the Coronavirus can spread more easily according to the San Francisco Health Department: 1) those that serve food & drink (i.e. bars, restaurants, clubs, theatres and entertainment venues; and 2) indoor fitness businesses (i.e. yoga studios, gyms).  This new vaccination requirement took effect on August 20, 2021, for patrons of these businesses as well as large indoor events of over 1000 people.  Large events include concerts, Warrior games as well as houses of worship, wedding or other event receptions.

Second, in addition to your customers, effective Wednesday, October 13, 2021, the vaccination requirement extends to all staff/employees of these same businesses.   These vaccination requirements do not apply to grocery stores, drug stores or indoor shopping malls or other retail stores as long as food and/or drink is not being served and consumed inside.

What is acceptable proof of vaccination? They include the original, copy, or electronic photo of the CDC vaccination card; documentation from a healthcare provider; your personal digital Covid-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California or other approved private company.

As always there are exceptions to these requirements above, are in addition to other vaccination requirements for employers in high-risk environments or other indoor business.   And don’t forget–there is still a mask mandate throughout San Francisco and all Bay Area counties which must be followed at all times until further notice.   If you are not vaccinated, you will find there are limitations on accessibility in San Francisco and surrounding Bay Area counties.  To get your free vaccine, find the nearest location to make your appointment today.
