CDC Updates Mask Guidance.

Today, April 27, 2021, the Center for Disease Control (“CDC”) updated their face mask guidance. Now, before you go and throw your face mask out— you will still need to continue to wear your face mask but the CDC has provided additional information on when you are required to do so.

The updated face mask guidance applies to outdoor mask use for those that are fully vaccinated.  Now, those who are fully vaccinated can now forgo masks for many outdoor activities, including:

  • Walking, running, hiking, or biking outdoors alone or with members of your household.
  • Attending a small outdoor gathering with fully vaccinated family and friends.
  • Attending a small outdoor gathering with a mix of fully vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
  • Dining at an outdoor restaurant with friends from multiple households.

If you are unvaccinated, you must continue to wear a mask in those activities outlined above. Additionally, regardless of whether you are vaccinated or not, the CDC still recommends that large indoor gatherings should be avoided, and people should continue to wear masks in indoor public spaces, such as malls or movie theaters.  Despite this guidance from the CDC, remember, even if vaccinated you can still get, and spread, Covid-19.   Wearing a mask is still recommended as critical and effective in preventing the spread of Covid-19.

Given the ever-changing guidance from the CDC, it is important for businesses and employers to stay up to date with these changes. For more information on how the updated mask guidance will affect your business or employees, please contact the Employer Lawyers at Chauvel & Glatt.
