Cal-OSHA Issues Revised Covid-19 Emergency Temporary Standards!

Just in time for the Holidays, Cal-OSHA has given employers the “gift” of updating the Emergency Temporary Standards (“ETS”) that will be effective starting on January 14, 2022.

Cal-OSHA has adopted revisions to the ETS to include the latest recommendations from the California Department of Public Health. The changes to the ETS include the following:

  • Changes to the process of investigating and responding to Covid-19 cases in the workplace;
  • Updated definition of a compliant face covering;
  • Revisions to the testing and exclusion from workplace requirements if a workplace exposure occurs;
  • Updated return to work criteria;
  • And many other notable changes!

What does this mean for your business?  With the uptick in the Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant, it is vital to have a proper written plan in place for your business that is clearly set forth to your employees.  It’s time to update your Covid-19 Prevention Plans and Protocols once again to ensure alignment with the new guidelines covering Covid-19 in the workplace.
