Bay Area Counties are subject to State’s Regional Stay at Home Order

As Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to surge in the Bay Area, San Mateo, and 10 other Bay Area counties will be subject to the State’s mandatory Regional Stay at Home Order requirements as the ICU bed availability has fallen below 15%.

Effective today, December 17, 2020, at 11:59 pm, gatherings of any size, except for a few exceptions will be prohibited and certain businesses will be required to cease or modify operations.

Under this Regional Stay at Home Order, all operations in the following sectors must be closed (except to the extent that their operations fall within critical infrastructure):

  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Personal care services
  • Museums, zoos, and aquariums
  • Movie theaters (except drive-in)
  • Wineries, bars, breweries, and distilleries (with the exception for production, manufacturing, distribution, and retail sale for off-site consumption)
  • Family entertainment centers
  • Cardrooms and satellite wagering
  • Live audience sports
  • Amusement parks

While other businesses (such as retail, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.)  may stay open under this new Regional Stay at Home Order modifications to their operations will be required in addition to the mandated face-covering requirements.
