Supreme Court Slams Breaks on Port of Los Angeles’s Clean Trucks Program

Yesterday the U.S. Supreme Court rejected two requirements of the Port of Los Angeles’s anti-smog program.
The port had created its Clean Truck Program in an attempt to regulate harbor trucking. Two of its provisions included the following:

  • Trucks must display placards reporting environmental safety concerns.
  • The trucks’ companies must have off-street parking plans.

The Supreme Court unanimously decided both requirements violate federal pre-emption law. Click here for more details on the ruling.
