Racing 191 Miles for Organs ‘R’ Us

Earlier this month our managing partner, Ron Chauvel, ran The Relay, a 191-mile race from Calistoga to Santa Cruz. Not only did his 12-runner team finish 70th out of 184, but they raised the most money for nonprofit Organs ‘R’ Us!

Team Sponge Bob No Chance raised $11,386 for Organs ‘R’ Us, which promotes organ donation awareness.

It was Ron’s third time running in the two-day event. “It’s fun, running with all your friends and meeting new people along the way,” he said. “It’s a fun social event as well as competitive.  Most importantly, there’s the charitable part to it.”

He found the course “fun and easy” and especially enjoyed running in Nicasio Valley at dusk. “It was beautiful. I ran from 8 to 9 p.m., went up a big hill, then sprinted down. … It was a great feeling.”

When he isn’t working hard at the office, Ron pounds pavement and trails as he trains for races. He has three half-marathons this year: the Giants Race in August, Big Sur in November and Rock ‘n’ Roll San Jose in October. He also ran the Kaiser half-marathon three months ago.
